Lock an app on iPhones and iPads
It can be useful to lock an app on an iPhone or iPad. This way, an app cannot be accidentally closed. This can be useful for apps that you always want to have open, such as Calendar Clock. Below, we explain how to lock an app on an iPhone or iPad.
We use the “Guided Access” option that is available on most iPhones and iPads. With this option, you can lock an app and disable all buttons of a device. Only someone who knows how to turn off the option and the access code can unlock the device afterwards.
Go to the settings of your iPhone or iPad. Scroll down and look for the app that you want to lock. Click on the app and look for the “Accessibility” option. Click on this.
Look for the “Guided Access” option and click on this.
Enable “Guided Access” and click on “Passcode Settings”.
Set a passcode. This passcode is needed to unlock the app again.
Now open the app that you want to lock. Press the round home button three times (if your iPhone or iPad has one) and otherwise the side button (the on/off button). The app is now locked and cannot be accidentally closed.
